The first tip to understand about confidence is that it is a mindset … and that developing a strong successful mindset takes practice. In fact for most people, it takes a lot of practice.

Confidence stems from belief in what you have to offer and a belief in the results that will come from your efforts. So, first and foremost, you must decide that you are going to make money and your must decide that you are going to be successful.

Once you have truly decided, you begin to look past where you are and focus instead on where you are going. And when you do that, you will find yourself taking deliberate action to move you closer to where you are going.

Specialized knowledge

The second tip is this: specialized knowledge builds confidence. Success in business, especially as an entrepreneur, is about the application of specialized knowledge.

If that statement seems odd to you, consider this question: who earns more in his practice, the general practitioner or the specialist? It is always the specialist.

Here’s another often overlooked fact: your company will only have enduring success if it offers a relevant product people want to buy and will continue to repurchase. This is important to know because one of the simplest secrets to success in network marketing is to become a student of your product. Study it and learn as much as you can about it. The more you do so, the easier it will become for you to talk about and the more steadfast your belief will become.

Consistent Action

Action mitigates fear, so the final tip to remember is to take consistent action. When you are in fear, you focus on what is going wrong or isn’t working and it takes away your power. But when you remind yourself of the decisions you’ve already made (to be successful) and you have become a student of your craft (your product), you find it easier to take action.

The more consistently you take action, the more momentum you create for yourself and the greater your confidence becomes. Action is empowering and when you are in consistent action your sense empowerment grows by leaps and bounds. Which enhances your belief, which in turn, enhances your confidence.

Where and how do you find your prospective customers and business partners? There seem to be so many options out there that it’s confusing and overwhelming.

These five marketing tips are foundational to your business success. When you keep these principles in mind, you will be well positioned to creating the marketing success you are after with your home business.

Marketing Tip #1: Brand yourself.

The truth is that your company and products don’t matter. People do business with other people they know, like and trust. If you are marketing a network marketing opportunity, why should someone get started with you as opposed to someone else promoting the same opportunity? The answer should be because they are not you and you bring a unique combination of passion, enthusiasm and focus to your business and your team. So remember to market yourself as opposed to your company.

Marketing Tip #2: Think long term.

Your ultimate goal in building your home business is to create leverage, so that you won’t have to work as hard and have to keep on trading your time for money. So apply that principle to your marketing strategy and activities. Undertake sustainable activities where you have the opportunity to build something once and it will then continue to work for you. So, for example, you are better to put your energy and focus on long term marketing activities such as writing articles as opposed to buying leads.

Marketing Tip #3: Take advantage of the Internet.

There are many different online and offline marketing strategies. However, the leverage offers unprecedented access to people all over the world 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If you are not employing marketing strategies that take advantage of the Internet, then you are unnecessarily limiting your reach. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do any offline marketing; it just means that you should ensure you have incorporated the Internet into your overall strategy.

Marketing Tip #4: Build relationships.

Your marketing activities must be focused on building relationships. This is why the concept of building a “list” is important. If you try to build your business by generating a lead and then dispose of 97% of leads for whom it’s not the right time to look at your business, you will have a tough and expensive time being successful. Focus on building an ongoing relationship with people by giving them ongoing value in exchange for their permission for you to continue to contact them. Then when the time does become right for them to take a closer look at what you have to offer, you are still in front of them.

Marketing Tip #5: Build critical mass.

Creating a successful marketing program for your home business means you must build critical mass. Once you’ve established your marketing strategy, execute it daily and consistently. Avoid falling into the trap of placing a few ads, or writing a few articles, and then stopping.

When you undertake your marketing activities diligently every day for 30 consecutive days, you reach a threshold where the marketing starts to really kick in and you can see the results. Most people only persist for a handful of days and then stop because they don’t see any immediate evidence that it’s working. Don’t be like most people.

Since becoming a serious network marketer in 2005, I’ve bumped into Daegan over and over again on the Internet. He has a very down to earth style that I like and he has had tremendous success in the MLM network marketing industry.

I came across this article Daegan wrote about duplication and it really struck a chord with me. That’s because it runs counter to what a lot of others teach when it comes to the concept of duplication and the importance of “just follow the system”. I found his article so refreshing I asked Daegan for permission to post his article here. He said “Go for it!” and so here it is.

Essence of True Duplication

Last night we held our last training session with my once student turned phenom and master network marketer, in my humble opinion, Ankur Agarwal.

The topic? Duplication.

Even I was sitting on the edge of my seat in anticipation for what Ankur was to share. In two years I built at team of 8,500 and in that same time frame Ankur quadrupled my results to build a team of over 33,000, so …

I humbly put my student hat on and sat back to learn from my young 26 year old friend.

If you were there with us, you know full well just how profound that 90 minutes of wisdom was.

You don’t grow a team of that size in that time frame on recruiting alone, believe me, and that session, which
originally was planned as a “BONUS” was by far the most value heavy of them all.

Let me share with you the core essence of that session.

We’re all told when we enter this industry that if we all just do a little we’ll see massive momentum and growth.

The stories you tell yourself play a vital role in your ability to attract the leads, prospects, sales and customers you desire in your business — and in your life. If you’ve been a student of personal success for any length of time, you will recognize this as a common message in so much of the self help material that has been published.

For example, it’s a fundamental teaching of Abraham and Jerry and Esther Hicks, in their book Money and the Law of Attraction — if you want a better life, start telling yourself a better story.

And so that’s why the stories you tell yourself are so vitally important. It is the tone and overriding message within your story that sets the level of vibration you are emitting and the level of expectation you have at a subconscious level. By law of attraction, the better you get at consistently telling yourself a better story, the more rapidly you get to live it.

Bob Proctor, one of the featured teachers in the film The Secret, often speaks about the idea of living your life as if you are the star of your own movie. Why settle for the role of an extra? Afterall, it’s YOUR MOVIE, so why wouldn’t you choose to write yourself into the lead role?

Do you feel the ring of truth in that statement? If so, then examine your own patterns and recognize where you may be guilty of telling yourself a story that minimizes yourself and your own role in your story. What story are you telling yourself today?

As said earlier, it shouldn’t be surprising at all that telling yourself a better story is sage advice. It’s prevalent as a theme in all of the self help teachings.

One of the books that really highlights this priniciple is The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace Wattles. This book serves as the basis of a number of derivative self improvement programs, including the Inspired Science of Getting Rich Program.

In his book, which was published in 1910, Wattles talks about the importance of thinking in the “certain way”. He discusses the importance of directing your will internally and holding the thought of what you want with full clarity and purpose — regardless of appearances.

In other words, keep telling yourself the better story of where you’re going.

As Wattles explains, thoughts are real things and you create through your thought. So by deliberately focusing on what you want and where you are going, you are framing the story you are telling yourself. And then you get to watch the story unfold.

Bringing this back to your business, what then is the story you are telling yourself with respect to your home business? Take care to develop your picture of where you are going in your business, and start living that story — as the lead character in your own movie about you as the successful home business entrepreneur.

Stepping back for a moment, in one of my previous articles I expressed the opinion that you own the responsibility for becoming your own guru in your network marketing business. The key point is that you need to take responsibility for your own decisions rather than relying upon someone else to make those decisions for you. However, that’s not to say you should do it all on your own. You still require guidance and advice from time to time to help you make the best decisions for your business.

Andy Andrews emphasizes the importance of having a Board of Directors

A Board of Directors is a group of people who you can mastermind with and from which to seek counsel when it comes to areas of your business. They are there to advise you in the affairs of your business.

The question becomes who should you put on to your board of directors? With respect to your business, one of the key considerations is your income goals. It is said that your income will tend to approximate the average earnings of the five people you spend most of your time with. Let us suppose that your goal is to earn $1 million in the next 12 months. If that is the case who are people that you are going to put on your board of directors who are already earning $1 million or more in a year?

If you are serious about your goal then you want to identify those five people and place them onto your board. The cool thing about this is that they need not necessarily even be aware that they are a part of your board of directors. You can take counsel with them even if you have never met them.

For example, perhaps you would like to have Donald Trump on your board of directors. There are many ways to plug into Donald Trump and benefit from his experience. You can do that through books that he has written , audio he has recorded and interviews he has granted. These are all ways of tapping into and masterminding with a member of your board of directors even though you may never have a personal conversation.

What that means is that you are not limited in terms of who you can place on your Board of Directors. Indeed you can let your imagination run wild and really put a lot of creative thought into who you would like on your board. Once you have established your board of directors, the key is to ensure that you consult and meet with them regularly. Which ever medium by which you choose to use to do that, make a habit of plugging into their teaching and advice regularly.

You are not limited to applying this technique only to your business. Take the time to identify each of the key areas in your life where you would benefit from having a board of directors in place. For each area you have identified, start brainstorming the names of advisors you would like to have on your board. Then go about selecting the five people who are going to sit on that particular board based on the knowledge base and level of demonstrated competence for that particular subject area.
